A HONGMU AND 'FAMILLE-VERTE' FLOOR SCREEN

Inset with nineteen variously shaped 'famille-verte' panels, a central roundel of a ruler receiving tribute, flanked by further figural scenes and panels of birds among flowers and trees all symmetrically arranged in mirror-image, all on a ground of well-carved prunus-scroll in low relief enclosed within an openwork border of bamboo and double-gourds, flanked by supporting posts of dragons amid clouds in high relief rising to urn-shaped finials, the lower section of further openwork of auspicious animals among trees and lingzhi above a shaped apron of further prunus, repeated on the scrolled-acanthus-leaf- feet (2) Height 90 1/2 in., 230 cm; Width 53 in., 134.5 cm; Depth 23 in., 58.5 cm
